Spiritual Growth Ministries and Maree Shepherd are delighted to collaborate in bringing IDT Trainer, Mary Brownlow to Auckland June 10 - 11th, 2024 for a two-day introductory block course on Interactive Drawing Therapy for spiritual directors.

Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT) is a playful and profound way to support directees to creatively access inner realities, resources and wisdom - and to discover more about their relationship with themselves, others and God.

What: Two-day Introductory IDT Block Course (Foundation Unit 1)

Cost: $480 Includes an Interactive Drawing Therapy resource kit (drawing board, wax crayons)

Limited Spaces
Spaces are limited to a maximum of 24 people. IDT workshops are not offered very often so we don’t want anyone to miss out!  We also are giving advance of warning to allow time to save. We suggest out-of-towners seek the hospitality of Auckland friends or fam for bed and breakfast to help make this professional development opportunity more affordable.

Interactive Drawing Therapy Foundations Unit One

  • A two-day training workshop

  • Introduces the basic method and principles of IDT

  • The course builds through a series of topic modules each presented within the format of theory, demonstration, practice, reflection/questions.

  • Lots of hands on practical learning

  • Learn to read directees overt and covert messages

  • Presumes participants have a mature level of interpersonal competency, a working knowledge of helping frameworks, and an ability to put their own needs aside while they attend to others.

  • Focusses on what to do and how to do it

  • By the end of the workshop you will be able to use IDT with directees.

IDT Workshop Facilitator: Mary Brownlow

Mary is a Wellington-based artist and Art Therapist. She trained in fine art receiving a B.F.A. from The College of Art and Design, Nova Scotia, Canada 1978, then an M.A. in Art Therapy, from Ursuline College, Cleveland, Ohio 1991.

Mary specialises in child therapy and family work with experience in areas of illness, death/bereavement, family break-up, addictions, eating disorders, developmental and adjustment Disorders, refugee/cultural displacement and trauma. She currently is employed at Te Omanga Hospice and runs a private practice. Professional memberships are with NZAC, Australia New Zealand Art Therapy Association. 

​Mary began using Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT) in 1994 integrating IDT with Art Therapy and Sand tray modalities. She now practices IDT with individuals and groups, and with supervisees. Mary teaches IDT courses since becoming a trainer in 2012.
